“Well…Alright then. I’ll check on you during lunch, okay?” Mello turned and left, having to run in order to get to class on time.

“Okay..” Near answered. Once Mello left, Near curled back up in bed, shutting his eyes.

Mello went back to his room, only realizing how tired he was when he laid his head down on his pillow. He doubted that Near would come back to his room at this point, and this was his last thought before drifting off.

Once Near finished his bath, he pulled some clothes on, going back to his bedroom and curling up in bed. He fell asleep as soon as his head touched the pillow.

Mello woke up to his alarm clock, as usual. He pulled on some clothes and went down to breakfast, wondering whether or not Near had drowned last night.

Near’s alarm went off, but he still wasn’t feeling well, so he just turned it off and rolled back over, falling back asleep.

Mello didn’t see Near come down, so when the bell for their first class rang, he went back upstairs to either wake him up, or see if he had actually drowned.

Near remained asleep, curled up with the blankets pulled tightly around himself.

Mello raced back up the stairs, knowing he’d have to be quick if he wanted to make it to class on time. He reached Near’s door and knocked loudly.

Near groaned quietly, opening his eyes.“What?” He asked.

“You’re going to be late for class.” Mello responded, not wanting to say that he had come to make sure that Near was still alive.“

“I’m not going.” Near answered. “I’ll catch up on the work later.” He shut his eyes.

Mello stood there in silence as Near leaned against the wall, having lost complete control of his bladder.

“Seriously Near? I took you all the way down here for this? You may as well have gone in the hall upstairs.” He sounded more annoyed than he actually was, unsure of what to say.

“I wasn’t trying to.” Near answered. He was too tired to argue about this. Honestly, a part of him was tempted to just sleep there on the floor. He’d now have to walk all the way back up the stairs, take a shower, and change clothes. His head hurt, and that took more energy than he felt he had left. Still, he pushed himself back up off the wall, turning to walk back upstairs. He wasn’t going to ask Mello for help.

/I suppose I’ll be cleaning that up…/ Mello thought, though a minute later he reminded himself that it was his fault it had happened in the first place. Mello was glad that Near seemed to be walking normally, so he turned and went into the bathroom, getting a towel to wipe up the puddle on the floor. After, he made his way back upstairs, eyelids drooping slightly. “Near?” He called softly once he reached the next floor.

It took forever for Near to get up the stairs without falling, but once he did, he went into his room to get clean clothes, and then walked to the bathroom, which was now empty. He started a bath, since he was exhausted and didn’t want to stand anymore.

Mello saw the light coming from inside the bathroom, and heard water running. He knocked lightly, wanting to make sure that Near didn’t need anything. “You’re okay, right?” He asked.

“I’m fine.” Near answered. He sat on the edge of the tub, waiting for it to fill. He shut his eyes, touching the spot on his head where Mello had hit him with the book.

“Maybe I should stay for a bit…just to make sure you don’t get dizzy and fall into the water.” Mello suggested. He didn’t want to risk being held responsible for Near drowning in the tub.

“I won’t. I’m fine.” He answered, turning the faucet off now that the tub was full. He was still upset about Mello yelling at him, and didn’t particularly want his help with anything else.

“I’ll just sit here.” Mello insisted. He pulled the shower curtain all the way across the bath and leaned his back against the edge of the tub. “…I guess you’ll want me to leave so you can get undressed…” He said, standing up again.

Near sighed a bit, and nodded. “Yes.” He answered, waiting until Mello was out of the room before he undressed.

Mello stepped out and shut the door, waiting for a minute or two before knocking again.

Near got in the tub. “What?” He looked back at the door. “I said I’m fine.”

“And I said I didn’t want to be held responsible for you drowning. Can I come in?” He turned the knob, glad to find that Near hadn’t locked the door.

“I don’t want you in here.” Near replied, hearing the knob turn anyway. He crossed his arms over his chest. “Mello..”

“…Fine.” Mello answered, letting his hand fall from the knob back to his side. He was starting to sound like some kind of desperate pervert at this point, and he knew it would be better to just leave Near alone.

Satisfied that Mello would give him some privacy, Near quietly watched himself. he tried to listen, wondering if Mello actually left or if he was still waiting outside the door.
