“I brought you your homework.” Mello said, putting the papers down on Near’s desk next to the tray. He noticed Near still hadn’t eaten the toast, but he had drank most of the juice.

“Is there anything you need Near?” Mello asked. “More juice maybe?”

“No, I’m fine.” He shifted a bit under his blanket, his thighs pressed together. He thought again about just asking Mello to take him, but he pushed the thought away. He could wait until someone else came in.

“Okay.” Mello thought he saw Near fidget a little, but maybe he’d just imagined it…/Did Near go to the bathroom at all this morning?/ he wondered, before shaking the thought out of his head. /I’m sure he did. He’s ill, not crippled…/

“See you in an hour.” Mello turned and left Near’s bedroom.

An hour seemed like forever. “See you.” He replied.

After fifteen minutes, Near slowly sat up, and then stood, hoping that this time, the lightheadedness would just pass, because he wasn’t waiting another forty-five minutes.

Fifteen minutes passed, and Mello was able to focus on his work for a while before briefly thinking of Near again. /It sure is cute having him depend on me like this….I hope he’s not hungry or thirsty right now. He barely seemed able to get out of bed when I last saw him./

The lightheadedness didn’t subside. Near figured it was because he hadn’t eaten hardly anything, but he still felt too sick to even try to eat. He sat back on the bed, pressing his legs together.

Mello’s class was half over and he was in the middle of working on a project with Matt. He didn’t tell him about how he was helping Near, although he did assure his friend that he didn’t poison him.

He eventually made himself take a few bites of the toast, then tried to stand again, but, like he was worried about, it wasn’t enough to keep him from feeling so lightheaded. The only other thing he could have was the rest of the juice, but that was the last thing he wanted at the moment.

Mello and Matt worked on their project until the end of class, and then cleaned up and left. Mello lied about forgetting something in his room and ran back upstairs to check on Near. He knocked on Near’s door, hoping the younger wasn’t trying to sleep or something.

Near couldn’t stop squirming, holding himaelf. He let go of his crotch at the knock, but still couldn’t keep still.

Mello opened the door and shut it it quickly so nobody would see him going into Near’s room. “How are you feeling?”

Near didn’t look up at Mello. “Still sick.“ He said.

Mello nodded. “You look it. Need anything? If you do you should ask me now, because I have to get to science soon.”

“Well, I, um..” He squirmed a bit more, looking away. “I’m fine.”
